Airlink to Launch Direct Cape Town-Gaborone Flights Starting April 2025
Airlink, Southern Africa’s leading airline, is set to launch direct flights between Cape Town and Gaborone starting 1st April 2025.
The decision follows confirmation from the aviation authorities in both Botswana and South Africa, ensuring that all necessary approvals are in place for the new route.
“We’re grateful to the aeronautical regulatory bodies of both governments for resolving the matter, allowing Airlink to do what we do best—connecting people and markets with reliable and convenient flights,” said Rodger Foster, Airlink CEO and Managing Director. “We’ve reinstated the flights in our global reservations system, so customers can now book their trips on this route.”
Foster emphasized the significance of Gaborone and Cape Town as key destinations for both business and leisure travelers. “We’ve noticed increasing demand from both local and international customers for a direct service between these two cities,” he added.
The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Departures from Cape Town International Airport are scheduled for 10:50 AM, arriving at Gaborone’s Sir Seretse Khama International Airport at 1:00 PM. The return flight leaves Gaborone at 1:45 PM, landing back in Cape Town at 4:00 PM.
Airlink will use modern 44-seat Embraer E140 Regional Jets for this route. Fares include a 20kg free checked-in luggage allowance for Economy Class, with an additional 15kg allowance for sporting equipment. Full fare Economy (Y class) tickets come with a 30kg complimentary luggage allowance. Onboard, passengers will enjoy a complimentary light meal and refreshments, with cabins designed for comfort, featuring ample legroom and a choice of aisle or window seats—no middle seats here.
The new flights are also scheduled to provide convenient connections with Airlink’s other domestic and regional services, as well as with long-haul flights from their global airline partners.
